Bay of Chaleur Autism Behavioural Centre Inc.

2014, Female Entrepreneur of the Year by CBDC Chaleur

Bay of Chaleur Autism Behavioural Centre Inc.: Making a Positive Impact in the Lives of the People they Serve!

In 2006, Nathalie Bryar founded Bay of Chaleur Autism Behavioural Centre Inc., located in Beresford, N.B. Bay Chaleur Autism Behavioural Intervention Centre Inc. offers behavioural intervention services for preschool aged children on the autism spectrum. Services can be offered at home, at daycares or even at their place of business. For preschool children, services are paid for by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.

Bay of Chaleur Autism Behavioural Centre Inc. also provides services for school-aged children, in partnership with other professionals in the region. Furthermore, most recently, the Centre began consulting with a community organization in order to offer interventions to adults with autism.

Nathalie began her career as a nurse and she later purchased a daycare, which she operated for five years. She then worked at Paquito Early Intervention Centre Inc. for six years before opening her own business.

A born leader, Nathalie loves the many responsibilities needed to run a business. She enjoys the freedom that entrepreneurship provides. She also enjoys being in a position to operate a business based on her vision.

According to Nathalie, the most rewarding aspect of being a female entrepreneur is seeing the amazing positive impact that their services bring to the lives of the families they serve.

When asked if she has a role model, she says: “My mother is a source of inspiration for me. She has played a management role in the past and, later in her career, she has also operated her own business. Having a business and working in management is normal for me.”

If she could share advice with aspiring entrepreneurs, she would tell them to “listen to the voice within, believe in their vision and not let anyone interfere with their dream!”

Her advice on best practices is to always treat people with respect. Furthermore, “building an agency like this cannot be done alone. It takes great collaboration and teamwork!”

Nathalie is a mother to three sons, Dany (24), David (22) and Justin (17). She recently received the 2014 Female Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the Chaleur Region.

Danielle Sullivan has been a great resource to me with my business. Danielle is very intuitive, and understands what Lil' Angel Gifts means to me, and where I want to go with my vision. She's taken the initiative to recommend specific training and resources, things that have helped me tremendously. I will continue to look to her for advice and resources, as well as share future accomplishments with her, so she can keep cheering me on :)
