Chez Goloso- Discovering the Taste of Italy Right Here in Acadie

Originating from the Italian word for “sweet tooth” Chez Goloso, a business specializing in homemade gelatos, is delighting taste buds.  Friends Nadine Roy Cormier and Hélène Haché always knew that they would like to open a business together, but after a trip to Italy, their business idea became clear. They decided to take the Italian “joie de vie” and create a European experience right here in downtown Caraquet.
Chez Goloso is opened seasonally from May to December and this is their second season in operation. The dynamic duo began the research phase for this unique enterprise in May of 2009 and officially launched the following summer in July 2010. They have seven employees (four who work full-time and five students).
When asked three words to describe her business, Nadine highlights, “Quality, freshness and customer service.” Chez Goloso prides itself on using top quality products that are fresh and healthy as well as offering customers with an ambiance to enhance their dining experience.
Nadine and Hélène are thankful for the advice and resources received from the NB Association of CBDCs through Women in Business. With the help of Diane Vigneault, they were able to work with marketing consultants to create a three-year plan for their business.
When asked what advice they would give to aspiring entrepreneurs, they said, “Do your homework and take advantage of the many resources that exist such as the local CBDC and Enterprise Network. Also seek a mentor, someone who has experience in your field. We work with an Italian mentor and can call upon him for advice if we have any questions.”
The best advice they ever received was to “take your time and sometimes it is better to arrive slowly then to jump headfirst.”
What’s in store for Chez Goloso in the next five years? “The future looks bright.” Nadine and Hélène would like to see it franchise throughout New Brunswick to popular tourist destinations such as Dieppe and Shediac. Ambitious plans for the young entrepreneurs who are both employed full-time at other locations (Nadine as a dental hygienist and Hélène as an entrepreneur.)

"I would like to thank you for picking Ben's Clothing for the retail consulting makeover.  I very much enjoyed talking to Barbara.  She has wonderful insites on what to do to refresh my store.  I was extremly excited of the ideas put together thats in my budget for now and also in the near future.
The 1st part of the seminar, had opened my eyes to the reality of my challenges and concerns, statistics, operating cost and marketing which is a huge part that can not be ignored. It's a must to have a list of issues to know it and control it.  This is a large part of my battles that I face but placed them in the back burner.
When Barbara came into my store I wasn't sure what to expect because in the seminar she was leaning towards makeovers for a new store or toronto style store.  I had no idea that a little bit of paint in a different color will bring out what I want to promote.  She had alot of new ideas that are in the budget and I'm going to make it happen!
Thank you again for filling me in with the seminars that are offered.  I'm always willing to get informed and always moving forward."
