Comztar Commercial Properties: Entrepreneurial Spirit Flows through Cathy Sweet’s Veins

2014, Phenomenal Woman of the Year Award by Women in Business NB

Comztar Commercial Properties has been developing and leasing industrial warehousing, commercial and office space for businesses for the last decade. President Cathy Sweet and her team of professionals are pleased to offer first-class customer service and help companies create the ideal space for their business. They have multiple-size spaces, from 2400 to 100,000 square feet, and operate mainly in the Greater Moncton area as well as Dieppe, Miramichi and Bathurst. Moreover, they have plans to move into the Nova Scotia and Newfoundland markets.

Always innovative, Comztar offers their clients a move-in ready service, where they furnish a rental space to suit their clients’ needs. It is truly important for Comztar to offer something special and unique.

Cathy Sweet has an entrepreneurial spirit that was ignited at an early age. She is a third generation entrepreneur who thrives on business and her family and staff all share the love of business achievement. She credits her parents for their support and encouragement in her journey.

According to Cathy, “people always talk about a balanced life or an unbalanced life; I love what I do and am prepared to work day, night or weekends or do whatever it takes to get the job done. When you love what you do, it is not work.”

When asked the difference between being a female or male entrepreneur, Cathy says, “I think entrepreneurship has its own set of challenges. When you are growing, you always have a set of challenges - if you don’t have challenges, you are not growing.”

If she could give advice to aspiring entrepreneurs, Cathy would tell them: “Surround yourself with people who encourage you, who are different from you, and can challenge you in different ways.”

Cathy believes in collaborating with others and says that “to grow the economy in New Brunswick, we need to think more of “co-op”-etition versus competition!”  Networking is important to every business. Comztar invests in other companies, in different strategic sectors. Cathy was a participant in the prestigious Wallace McCain Institute and highly recommends it to other entrepreneurs.

This dynamic entrepreneur was the recipient of the 2014 Phenomenal Woman of the Year award presented by Women in Business New Brunswick.

“I find the Women in Business Initiative like a breath of fresh air. The ladies seem very comfortable with a gathering of their peers and perhaps more willing to speak up on issues of interest or concern to them. The guest speakers and discussion topics we choose for our meetings are of interest to the majority of the women. I wish there had been a group like this years ago. I am grateful to you and CBDC for all the help you’ve given our group in its founding and continued growth.”
