Business Structure Series - Legal considerations involved in starting a business

The purpose of this series is to assist entrepreneurs in providing them with necessary information and tools to form a solid foundation for their business, and increase awareness of the personal, financial, and social risks of becoming self-employed.

The sessions focus primarily on the legal considerations required to establish a business and the legal steps to set up a sole proprietorship, partnership and a corporation. We also review the common pitfalls and mistakes entrepreneurs make when starting a business and provides the participants with advice on various topics related to business, including basic concepts of contract law, the importance of preparing an invoice (and what to include on the invoice), succession planning, the importance of having a Will and Power of Attorney, and other related matters.
